ØSTFOLD
Østfold is a region in Norway, south for Oslo, near the Swedish border. Approximately 250.000 inhabitants live in 18 different municipalities. The acreage is 4 200 km2. The population is increasing every year, mainly because of immigration from Oslo.

Østfold is traditionally a manufacturing region, with a heavy weight in forest industry, paper mills and chemical factories. Today only 21% is employed in the manufacturing industry. Farming employs about 3%. The rest of the labour force is working in different service industries and the public sector

The municipalities, Spydeberg, Askim and Eidsberg, will especially participate in this project. Østfold is leading partner/lead applicant, which means that Østfold is overall responsible for the project.

Østfold has earlier been involved in the Interreg IIc project NOORD XXI. Askim municipality has been a case area in that project. Read more about the Askim project at www.nku.no/askimpro
